Richard Lee's wife questioned as witness in consumer protection case

Jakarta police questioned Richard Lee's wife, RE, as a witness on Friday, March 27, 2026, to bolster evidence in the alleged consumer protection and health law violations case. Lee remains in custody with his detention extended by 40 days.

Jakarta – Investigators from the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of Metro Jaya Police questioned RE, the wife of suspect Richard Lee, on Friday (March 27, 2026). The examination aims to gather facts to complete the case evidence.

Kompol Andaru Rahutomo, Head of Public Information and Documentation of the Metro Jaya Police Public Relations Division, stated that the questioning started in the morning and was ongoing during his interview at the Public Relations Building lobby.

"Today, an examination of suspect DRL's wife was conducted by Ditreskrimsus Metro Jaya Police. Ms. RE, who is DRL's wife, is being questioned and is currently still in the process," said Kompol Andaru.

He added, "The investigators' current goal is to collect those facts. So that they can be constructed and become additional evidence that can be used for completing the case file and eventually for trial."

Richard Lee, designated as a suspect for alleged violations of consumer protection and the Health Law related to beauty treatment products, remains detained at Metro Jaya Police detention center. His detention has been extended by another 40 days following coordination with prosecutors.

Police also denied rumors of special treatment for Richard Lee. "There is no special treatment for anyone in Metro Jaya Police detention. All suspects detained at Metro Jaya Police receive the same treatment, including their rights," emphasized Kompol Andaru.

The case originated from a report by Dokter Detektif (Doktif) and is being processed toward trial.
