Sammy Kamau Ngotho has won the Democracy for the Citizens Party nomination for the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election scheduled for July 16.
Ngotho secured 12,957 votes in the DCP primaries held on Saturday, May 9, defeating his closest rival Paul Waiganjo who received 4,978 votes. The exercise attracted nine aspirants and large crowds.
The United Democratic Alliance candidate Samuel Muchina Nyaga won his party's primaries a day earlier on May 8 with 3,221 votes. The Ol Kalou seat fell vacant after the death of MP David Njuguna Kiaraho on March 29, 2026, at the age of 62.
After his victory, Ngotho thanked his supporters and urged them to turn out in large numbers on July 16. He had contested the seat under the UDA banner in 2022 and later served as an advisor to Rigathi Gachagua.
