A São Paulo court ruled in first instance that federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) must pay R$ 12,000 in moral damages to influencer Thais Carla. The decision, issued on Monday by Judge Fabio Pando de Matos, also bans further depreciative posts about her. Thais Carla celebrated the win on social media.
São Paulo's 1st Civil Special Court of the Court of Justice ordered Nikolas Ferreira to compensate Thais Carla with R$ 12,000 for moral damages. The ruling stemmed from the deputy's repost on X, formerly Twitter, of a photo of the influencer with her body painted like Globeleza, captioned “they took away the beauty, and only Globo remained”.
Judge Fabio Pando de Matos issued the decision on Monday. In addition to the compensation, Ferreira is barred from making new posts using Thais Carla's image or name with depreciative comments, facing a R$ 4,000 fine per violation.
Thais Carla marked the outcome on social media this Wednesday (April 1). "Freedom of expression is not a free pass for your prejudice or violence. And to remember that this victory is not just mine. This victory is for all fat people who suffer attacks every day," she posted.
The deputy responded to the condemnation by saying: “Honestly… Brazil is a joke".
