South African rugby mourns death of Themba Ludwaba

The South African rugby fraternity is mourning the death of Themba Ludwaba, who passed away last night after a long illness at the age of 80.

Ludwaba played lock forward for the South African African Rugby Board, the Kwazakhele Rugby Union, the club Spring Rose and for Eastern Province. He first represented SAARB in the late 1960s and leaves behind six children.

Former Springbok Manager Zola Yeye described the loss, saying: “Themba Ludwaba's untimely death has sent shockwaves throughout the country. He was one of our go-to men on the field of play, a trusted player indeed, he will be sorely missed.”

The news has prompted tributes across the rugby community in South Africa.
