Südafrikanischer Rugby trauert um den Tod von Themba Ludwaba

Die südafrikanische Rugby-Gemeinschaft trauert um den Tod von Themba Ludwaba, der letzte Nacht nach langer Krankheit im Alter von 80 Jahren verstorben ist.

Ludwaba spielte als Lock für das South African African Rugby Board, die Kwazakhele Rugby Union, den Verein Spring Rose und für die Eastern Province. Er vertrat das SAARB erstmals in den späten 1960er Jahren und hinterlässt sechs Kinder.

Der ehemalige Springbok-Manager Zola Yeye beschrieb den Verlust mit den Worten: „Themba Ludwabas früher Tod hat im ganzen Land für Bestürzung gesorgt. Er war auf dem Spielfeld einer unserer Leistungsträger, ein wahrhaft verlässlicher Spieler; wir werden ihn schmerzlich vermissen.“
