The Inkatha Freedom Party will hold the funeral of its councillor Mbuso Mzwandile Mthimkhulu on Sunday in Ulundi. The Gauteng chairperson will deliver the eulogy. Mthimkhulu was shot dead last week after a community meeting.
Mbuso Mzwandile Mthimkhulu served as a proportional representation councillor for the Inkatha Freedom Party at the Rand West City Local Municipality in Gauteng. He was elected in 2021 and sat on the Municipal Public Accounts Committee. The party described him as someone who served his community with humility and integrity. Officials noted that he advocated strongly for good governance and accountability during his time in office. Mthimkhulu was killed after attending a community meeting in Bekkersdal. His body will be buried at his home in Newlands, Ulundi, in northern KwaZulu-Natal. Bonginkosi Dhlamini, the IFP chairperson in Gauteng, is scheduled to speak at the service.
