The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to begin their 2026 training camp in late July at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe. A recent roster preview highlights the outlooks for running back Travis Homer, quarterback Will Howard and wide receiver Max Hurleman.
The Steelers concluded their 2026 offseason practices in mid-June. Training camp is scheduled to open later this month with the team carrying a 91-man roster that includes one international player designation.
Homer signed a one-year, $1.3 million contract earlier in the offseason. He has recorded 90 carries for 474 yards and one touchdown in his NFL career along with 55 receptions for 475 yards and two scores. The Steelers top running backs are Jaylen Warren and Rico Dowdle with Kaleb Johnson and Eli Heidenreich also on the depth chart.
Howard was selected in the sixth round of the 2025 draft out of Ohio State. He missed the entire 2025 preseason due to a hand injury and has yet to take a preseason snap. He will compete with Mason Rudolph for the backup role behind Aaron Rodgers with rookie Drew Allar also in the mix.
Hurleman signed as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame in 2025. He spent the 2025 regular season on the practice squad after a strong preseason showing. Two rookie wide receivers Germie Bernard and Kaden Wetjen are expected to make the roster leaving Hurleman to battle for a practice squad spot again.
