Schlereth quoted Panthers head coach Dave Canales as saying Dowdle changed the team's attitude with his violent running style. The former offensive lineman described Dowdle as a battering ram who delivered strong performances before Hubbard returned to the lead role.
The Steelers will face the Panthers in Week 16 this season. Dowdle has indicated he wants to prove his value in that matchup after leaving Carolina in free agency. He is expected to share carries with Jaylen Warren while bringing a physical running approach that aligns with the team's style.
