Taylor Richardson and Alex MacNicoll cast in short film Change the Prophecy

Taylor Richardson and Alex MacNicoll are set to star in the short film Change the Prophecy, a television proof-of-concept from writer-director Lindsay Grossman. The project is produced by Madison Jones and Geneva Willis.

Taylor Richardson, known for The Gilded Age, and Alex MacNicoll, from The Society, will lead the cast of Change the Prophecy. The short film, based on Grossman's original short story, follows Sarah Rowe (Richardson), a teenage girl in a society where the government assigns soulmates at age 18. When Sarah discovers she has no match and faces social isolation, she hacks the system to claim another pairing, disrupting the life of popular student Tony Emerson (MacNicoll) and separating him from his love interest. It explores themes of love and dating in a speculative world where personal choice in destiny is outdated and prohibited, described by Grossman as a 'swoony, angsty love letter to dystopian YA literature and to the teen dramas of the late 90s/early aughts.' Producers Madison Jones and Geneva Willis, co-founders of Love List with Grossman, stated: 'We’re so thrilled to be a part of Change the Prophecy. Both of us have been fans of Lindsay’s writing for a while now, and when we read the early drafts of this short, we knew it was a project we needed to be involved in. We can’t wait for audiences to experience it.' Production is scheduled for June 2026, with Jamie Ember as casting director. Representation includes Grossman by Krista Sipp at Heroes & Villains, Richardson by Paradigm, MacNicoll by Gersh, Joanne Horowitz Management and Stone Genow, and Willis by Christine Coggins at Heroes & Villains.
