A Dallas County man has been charged with murder in the stabbing death of his former girlfriend, whose body was discovered in a freezer inside an abandoned home.
Kendrick Brown, 51, was arrested on June 18 and charged with the murder of 27-year-old Mariah Murray. Police said Brown stabbed Murray multiple times, including a fatal wound to the head that penetrated her brain, before placing her body in a running freezer in the master bedroom of a home in East Oak Cliff, Texas.
Murray's body was found on May 10 after neighbors reported seeing people leave the home and claiming a dead body was inside. Officers discovered the frozen remains and later determined she had been dead for some time. Blood was found on the carpet and walls, and a military-style knife was recovered hidden behind drywall.
An arrest warrant stated that a witness saw Murray lying on the floor of a closet in the master bedroom three days before the discovery and saw Brown shut the door. Surveillance video allegedly showed Brown carrying a similar knife. Brown admitted being in the house but denied entering the master bedroom, though videos on his devices placed him there with Murray.
Brown is being held in the Dallas County Jail on $250,000 bond.
