Traffic engineering to be implemented around Monas on New Year's Eve 2026

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will implement traffic engineering around the National Monument (Monas) area on New Year's Eve 2026 to support celebrations. Vehicle traffic diversions will apply to ten roads from 6:00 PM to 1:00 AM WIB. Additionally, Monas operating hours have been adjusted with special shows.

On Wednesday, December 31, 2025, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will enforce traffic engineering around the Monas area in Central Jakarta to facilitate New Year's Eve 2026 celebrations. Syafrin Liputo, Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub), stated that this is "to support the New Year's Eve 2026 transition activities" via traffic diversions and road closures.

Diversions apply to ten points, including the intersection of Jalan Budi Kemuliaan and Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Jalan Kebon Sirih, Jalan KH Wahid Hasyim, Jalan Majapahit, Jalan Veteran III, Jalan Veteran II, the intersection of Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur and Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, the intersection of Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan and Jalan MI Ridwan Rais, the intersection of Jalan Perwira and Jalan Lapangan Banteng Barat, and the intersection of Jalan Abdul Rahman Saleh and Jalan Kramat Kwitang.

Alternative routes are provided for drivers. For instance, from the east like Pasar Senen to the west toward Harmoni, use Jalan Senen Raya-Jalan Kwini I-Jalan Abdul Rahman Saleh and continue, or Jalan Gunung Sahari-Jalan Budi Utomo-Jalan Lapangan Banteng Utara. From the south like Cikini to north Jalan Veteran, take Jalan Menteng Raya-Jalan Arief Rahman Hakim. From north Jalan Gunung Sahari to south Tugu Tani, via Jalan Dr Sutomo-Jalan Gedung Kesenian. From Jalan Batu III to north Harmoni, through Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur. From west Tomang to east Pasar Senen, via Jalan Tomang Raya-Jalan Kyai Caringin.

Monas has adjusted its schedule accordingly. Ticket booths open from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM WIB. Dancing fountain shows occur in three sessions: 7:30 PM-8:00 PM, 8:30 PM-9:00 PM, and 10:30 PM-11:00 PM WIB. Video mapping in two sessions: 9:30 PM-10:00 PM and 11:30 PM-12:00 AM WIB. The Monas area remains open from 6:00 AM to 12:00 AM WIB.

These measures aim to ensure smooth flow and safety during the festivities, though they may extend travel times for motorists.
