Uppsala summer streets nearly ready with new olive trees

Uppsala municipality is preparing summer streets on Östra ågatan and Svartbäcksgatan. Large olive trees, a new color theme and activities including an activity cabinet are planned ahead of the opening.

Since 2020 Uppsala municipality has created summer streets with benches, flowers and trees. Car traffic is restricted and parking spaces are removed at Fyristorg which becomes a summer square as well as around Islandsfallet.

The municipality began rigging the streets on 23 April this year. Project leader Vera Linn Karlsson says an activity cabinet, a quiz trail and a book cabinet are part of this year's news.

From 30 May to mid-September everything is planned to be in place.
