Uppsala municipality's planning and building committee decided at its Thursday meeting to send the detailed plan for Bergsbrunna station out for consultation. The consultation begins on May 8 and lasts six weeks. The plan covers the station building, platform, and a passage over the railway, marking the first such plan for the southeastern districts.

The station building will stand six meters tall on the western side of the tracks and about 24 meters on the eastern side. Trafikverket is constructing the station as part of expanding the line to four tracks between Stockholm and Uppsala under the fyrspårsavtalet. Uppsala municipality is co-financing the project.

Uppsala municipality and Region Uppsala are also building a tram line to connect the station to the city's southern districts and center. The station and the remaining parts of the Fyra spår Uppsala project are scheduled for completion in 2034, with capacity for 30,000 daily passengers.

The Swedish government has approved the expansion to four railway tracks between Uppsala and Stockholm. The decision removes the last remaining doubts about the project, aligning with the 2017 four-track agreement. The national plan secures funding for completion by 2034, including new stations.
