Apple has registered its Apple Intelligence service with China's cyberspace regulator. This step addresses requirements for AI and privacy compliance in one of the company's largest markets.
The Chinese version will use Alibaba's Qwen model and features developed with Baidu. An Alibaba spokesperson confirmed the Qwen integration for devices including iPhone, iPad, Mac and Vision Pro. A Baidu spokesperson also verified its role in the project.
Reports of the partnerships date back to early 2025. Apple has not commented on the approval. The service launched in the US two years ago.
