Artists rethink form and meaning at Art Fair Philippines 2026

Art Fair Philippines returns to Manila's Circuit Makati from February 6 to 8, featuring 50 exhibitors and a diverse array of contemporary artists. The event spotlights emerging and established figures rethinking traditional forms through innovative materials and themes. International participation underscores Manila's growing role in global art dialogues.

Art Fair Philippines 2026 spotlights a wide range of artists, from emerging names to established figures in contemporary art. Held at Circuit Makati, the venue brings together leading galleries from the Philippines and international exhibitors from France, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, and Spain.

Among the highlighted artists is Imelda Cajipe-Endaya, showcasing her 'A Votary’s Art' exhibition with prints from her decades-long career, exploring Filipino identity, women's experiences, and migrant workers' lives. Ambie Abaño experiments with woodcut on surfaces like fabric and wood, while Max Balatbat recreates a chapel from his Caloocan community, examining religion's ties to Filipino urban life.

Veterans like Constancio Bernardo, Brenda Fajardo, Ged Unson Merino, Tessy and Jon Pettyjohn, Solomon Saprid, and Romeo Tabuena also feature prominently. Spanish artist Ampparito presents a performance installation on mortality. The fair explores technology's intersection with art through TRNZ's animation and TLYR Collective's augmented reality works.

Partnerships with Ateneo Art Gallery and the Museum Foundation of the Philippines host daily talks on art collecting. The ArtFairPH/Residencies program facilitates global exchanges for local artists, with applications opening in February 2026. '10 Days of Art' runs from January 30 to February 8, featuring public installations across Makati's Central Business District. On-site day passes are available from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

In the Philippines, February's National Arts Month highlights arts and culture, but appreciation often feels temporary. After the celebrations, enthusiasm fades, as focus remains on big festivals rather than daily creation. This prompts calls to integrate arts as an essential part of society year-round.
