The Milwaukee Brewers are set to call up top prospect Cooper Pratt from Triple-A Nashville ahead of Tuesday's series opener against the Guardians. The 21-year-old shortstop signed an eight-year contract with the club in April.
Pratt is expected to join the major league roster for the game at American Family Field, according to a source. He was seen celebrating with teammates after the Sounds' Sunday finale against Durham, with broadcaster Jeff Hem noting the excitement in the dugout.
The Brewers have not yet confirmed the move. A corresponding roster adjustment is likely, with infielder Luis Rengifo a candidate after dealing with injuries and posting a .205 average this season.
Pratt has hit .244 with six home runs and 17 stolen bases at Triple-A. He joins other young Brewers talents who signed large pre-major league deals, including Jackson Chourio and Luis Lara.
