Egonlab unveils spring 2027 menswear collection called Ataraxia

French label Egonlab presented its spring 2027 menswear collection this week, drawing on themes of peace and optimism amid global uncertainty. Designers Kevin Nompeix and Florentin Glémarec titled the outing Ataraxia after the ancient Greek concept of tranquility. The show mixed accessible garments with elaborate handcrafted pieces.

Nompeix and Glémarec said the collection responded to personal and societal concerns, including a nephew’s remark that studying seemed pointless because war was coming. They aimed instead to offer hope and unity through designs that occupy a space between reality and imagination.

Key looks featured white cotton-silk gauze shirt dresses overlaid with vintage and modern guipure lace made by nuns in French monasteries. Other items included silk shirts trimmed with Swarovski crystals, chocolate linen suits with boot-lace details, and hybrid shirt-t-shirts. The designers coined the term “coquette core” to describe the emphasis on desirability.

Pastel accents and surrealist references, such as collars inspired by the Musée Gustave Moreau staircase, appeared alongside practical items like tartan Eastpak bags. Egonlab, founded in 2019, was also shortlisted for this year’s ANDAM Grand Prize.
