Fünf Junioren in Schwedens Kader für die Weltmeisterschaft berufen

Schwedens Eishockey-Nationalmannschaft Tre Kronor nimmt fünf junge Spieler in ihren Kader für die kommende Weltmeisterschaft in der Schweiz auf. Die Gruppe umfasst kürzlich gekürte Junioren-Weltmeister, die während der Saison und in den Vorbereitungsspielen überzeugten.

Nationaltrainer Sam Hallam bestätigte die Nominierungen nach Beobachtung der Spieler in Testspielen. Bei den Junioren handelt es sich um Viggo Björck und Anton Frondell von Djurgården, Ivar Stenberg von Frölunda, Jack Berglund sowie Torhüter Love Härenstam. Hallam verwies auf deren vorherige Erfolge bei Juniorenturnieren sowie ihre starken Leistungen in der SHL und NHL in dieser Saison.

Tre Kronor has named 20 players for Friday's IIHF World Championship opener against Canada in Fribourg. Two goalies, six defensemen and twelve forwards are registered, leaving room for adjustments. Viggo Björck, 18, is set to become the youngest Swedish player ever in the tournament.

Swedish national ice hockey team coach Sam Hallam has selected a 10-debutant squad for the upcoming Fortuna Hockey Games from April 27 to May 3. Six players from the recent World Junior Championship gold-winning team have been included. The roster features a mix of experienced players and young talents.

Oliver Ekman-Larsson is one of seven new players joining Tre Kronor's squad. All six successful juniors remain after the victory in Fortuna Hockey Games last week. The new players, including five NHL players, are set for the World Championship rehearsal in Ängelholm this week.

Sweden's U18 ice hockey team, Småkronorna, won the world championship gold by defeating Slovakia 4–2 in the final in Trencin. It is the team's third gold in eight years. Goalkeeper Kevin Törnblom called the victory indescribable.
