Gemma Stevens zieht Chilli King von den Badminton Horse Trials zurück

Gemma Stevens hat ihr Pferd Chilli King kurz vor der ersten Verfassungsprüfung von den Mars Badminton Horse Trials zurückgezogen. Sie wird in dieser Woche nur mit Chilli Knight an den Start gehen. Auch mehrere andere Reiter haben ihre Teilnahme in den letzten Tagen vor dem Turnier abgesagt.

Gemma Stevens gab den Rückzug des 11-jährigen Chilli King am 6. Mai bekannt. Der Fünf-Sterne-Debütant zeigte während eines morgendlichen Ausritts Anzeichen von Unwohlsein, was zu dieser Entscheidung führte, obwohl keine ernsthafte Verletzung vorliegt. Stevens erklärte, sie sei sehr enttäuscht, wolle das Pferd jedoch bei einem so anspruchsvollen Wettbewerb keinem Risiko aussetzen. Stattdessen plant sie, das Pferd im weiteren Verlauf des Jahres auf Burghley vorzubereiten.

Sarah Bullimore and her home-bred gelding Corimiro delivered a clear round inside the optimum time to take the lead at the Mars Badminton Horse Trials cross-country phase on 9 May 2026. Two more competitors have pulled out of the Mars Badminton Horse Trials ahead of the cross-country phase.

Entries for the 2026 Mars Badminton Horse Trials were published on March 23, with two-time champions Ros Canter and Lordships Graffalo topping the list. The event is scheduled for May 6-10 and offers a top prize of £125,000. Several former winners and world-ranked riders are among the entrants.
