Grundschullehrerin gewinnt Badminton BE90-Breitensportklasse

Holly Jessett, eine Grundschullehrerin aus Northamptonshire, belegte am 6. Mai den ersten Platz in der BE90-Meisterschaft bei den Badminton Horse Trials. Auf ihrem 13-jährigen Pferd Lombard Lad landete sie nach einer fehlerfreien Runde im Springreiten vor 94 anderen Startern. Das Ergebnis markierte ihren ersten Sieg in dieser Klasse, nachdem sie 2023 den dritten Platz belegt hatte.

Jessett teilte sich die Führung in der Dressur mit Lucy Jowett, bevor sie in den verbleibenden Phasen ohne Fehler blieb. Jowett kassierte vier Strafpunkte im Springreiten und beendete das Turnier auf dem neunten Platz. Der Sieg gelang Jessett bei ihrem dritten Versuch in der LeMieux-Badminton-Breitensportklasse mit demselben Pferd, das sie besitzt, seit er sieben Jahre alt war und das in Vollpension gehalten wird.

Sarah Bullimore and her home-bred gelding Corimiro delivered a clear round inside the optimum time to take the lead at the Mars Badminton Horse Trials cross-country phase on 9 May 2026. Holly Richardson and Ballyneety Silver Service were the first pair to complete the course fault-free and inside the 11min 30sec target. Several top riders incurred penalties or suffered falls, reshaping the leaderboard.

Two more competitors have pulled out of the Mars Badminton Horse Trials ahead of the cross-country phase.

The 2026 LeMieux-sponsored Badminton grassroots championships featured a BE100 course designed by James Willis. Riders faced a 2,997-metre track with an optimum time of six minutes and 19 seconds across 21 fences.
