Walt Frazier, who helped the Knicks secure their previous championships in 1970 and 1973, appeared courtside in a floral-patterned blue blazer paired with a multicolored tie. The outfit was produced in under a week by Beckenstein Men’s Fabric, a fifth-generation family business on the Lower East Side.
Jonathan Boyarsky, the great-grandson of the shop’s founder, said his team selected bold fabrics including some used for furniture upholstery. They completed several suits after receiving a call from Frazier following the conference semifinals.
Frazier has long been known for his distinctive style, including animal-print jackets and patterned garments sourced from the Garment District. The suits were intended to cover all seven potential Finals games, though only five were ultimately required.
The tailor shop has operated on Orchard Street since 1919 and continues to serve clients seeking custom clothing in New York.
