Legends of Avantris, the Dungeons and Dragons actual play group, has revealed plans for its second TTRPG Kickstarter, Neon Odyssey, a neon-soaked space opera set for launch in May 2026. The project follows the success of their previous $4 million campaign for The Crooked Moon and promises three expansive sourcebooks totaling over 1400 pages. It features new classes, subclasses, species, and space combat rules inspired by sci-fi classics.
In a press release dated February 2026, Avantris Entertainment announced Neon Odyssey as its largest project to date. Described as "Star Wars meets Cowboy Bebop with a coat of Synthwave paint," the supplement reimagines core Dungeons and Dragons 5e classes with new names and mechanical upgrades. It includes a complete campaign setting spanning an entire galaxy, set in the bespoke world of Stardust Rhapsody, which is portrayed as cinematic, character-driven, and optimistic.
The content spans three sourcebooks: the Outrunner's Handbook for core player mechanics, the Cosmic Codex for the campaign setting, and the Overdrive Expansion for additional elements. Key additions include the Machinist class, an engineer and inventor wielding technomancy; over 40 subclasses; more than 30 species; and new rules for space combat and vehicles like starfighters. The release also promises over 300 alien monsters and enemy vehicles.
A longer statement from the press release elaborates: "Coming to Kickstarter this May, Neon Odyssey is Avantris Entertainment’s largest project to date, built for both longtime players and newcomers who want to blast off to the stars, explore the galaxy, and chart their own cosmic destiny. Drawing inspiration from iconic sci-fi films, retro video games, classic animation, and pop culture nostalgia, Neon Odyssey is built to provide gaming groups everything they need to experience an unforgettable and cinematic space opera with friends, with a plethora of galactic Game Master tools in a vibrant campaign setting or an astral arsenal of player options to soar among the stars."
The Kickstarter launches in May 2026, though one report mentions June. Early supporters can pledge $1 for VIP access, including a digital adventure titled Space Clown's Guide to the Galaxy, a Neon Nights dice set, a playtest document, and entry to a VIP-only Discord. This follows the group's prior success with The Crooked Moon, which raised $4 million.
