Man charged with murdering ex-girlfriend and man she was with in Memphis

Verdell Pegues faces two counts of first-degree murder after allegedly gunning down his ex-girlfriend Lashaunda Boyd and Jimmy Ford on a Memphis sidewalk. The attack followed recent domestic violence reports where Pegues threatened Boyd. Both victims died from their injuries.

On March 22, just before noon, Lashaunda Boyd, 36, and Jimmy Ford, 37, were walking near the intersection of East Dison Avenue and Carnegie Street in Memphis, Tennessee, when a man approached and shot them, according to the Memphis Police Department. Video footage captured the suspect standing over the fallen victims and firing additional shots. Officers found 9 mm cartridge casings at the scene; Boyd was pronounced dead there, while Ford died at a hospital, as reported by WREG.
