A 23-year-old Minnesota man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to setting fire to his ex-girlfriend's townhome while her family was inside.

Kyle Cathcart was taken into custody on suspicion of murdering his wife Jodi after police determined no intruder had entered their home. He initially told officers that an attacker had stabbed them both during a home invasion in Covington, Washington.

Hawa Hassan, a 30-year-old woman from Columbus, Ohio, faces felony arson charges after allegedly setting fire to her apartment while threatening to kill her four children. The children escaped unharmed and are now in custody of Franklin County Children's Services. Police say Hassan admitted to starting the fire.
