Man held for four attempted murders in Boden knew victims

A man in his 30s has been arrested on suspicion of four attempted murders at a worker's residence in Boden. The victims knew the suspect, and all have stable conditions despite serious injuries. Residents express fear for their safety and demand better protection.

Police were called to a worker's residence in Boden, belonging to Stegra, on Saturday evening following a violent incident. A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene and is now detained on suspicion of four attempted murders. Four people aged 20 to 60 were attacked with a bludgeon, and two were taken to hospital. Two more were injured, but according to prosecutor Kristin Andersson, all involved have stable conditions.

The prosecutor emphasizes that the event is isolated and that the individuals knew each other. Police preliminary investigation leader P-O Andersson describes the injuries as serious but notes that officers have been able to interview all victims. Police are now conducting interrogations, with a decision on detention due by Wednesday at the latest.

Blood was visible on walls and doors in the residence after the incident. Several guest workers spoken to by SVT report recurring fights and express concern for their safety. Jevgeni Vassiljev says: 'If we had a choice, we would move from this neighborhood.' Marcus Göthberg recounts a similar incident last weekend, involving fights over alcohol bottles and blood on the walls: 'Then I thought there would be a change with more surveillance and protection for those of us living there, but practically nothing happened.'

Residents demand measures for a safer environment. Stanislav Besstšastnõi suggests: 'I think Stegra needs more strong guards who can prevent such situations.' Stegra declines an interview citing the ongoing investigation, but press officer Nils Eklund provides a written comment: 'After the incident on Saturday evening, we have worked together with our partners who handle operations and security issues around the residences. Part of that work has involved safety-enhancing measures.'
