Mañueco invested as Castilla y León president with Vox backing

Alfonso Fernández Mañueco was reelected Tuesday as president of the Castilla y León regional government for a third consecutive term. The 33 PP deputies and 14 from Vox combined for 47 votes in favor in the regional parliament at 8:39 p.m.

Mañueco thus begins his third term with the broadest majority achieved so far. The coalition agreement with Vox includes the principle of national priority, which sets an allocation of public resources according to the verifiable roots of beneficiaries with the region. In his investiture speech, Mañueco defended that this principle will be applied while respecting the laws and without affecting already consolidated rights. He also highlighted regular and orderly immigration as a source of progress for an aging region. Vox leader in the region Carlos Pollán celebrated the pact and demanded compliance with budgets throughout the legislature. Socialist spokesman Carlos Martínez criticized the elimination of the Equality and Housing ministries in the new government.
