The Miami Marlins beat the Washington Nationals 4-1 on Wednesday at Nationals Park, securing their first three-game road winning streak of the season.
Max Meyer started for Miami and threw seven innings, allowing one run on two hits with seven strikeouts. The 27-year-old improved to 5-0 on the season and tied a club record for most starts without a loss. Esteury Ruiz hit a solo home run in the first inning, his third of the year. Miami added two runs in the eighth on a two-run single by Joe Mack and one more in the ninth on a Kyle Stowers triple. Manager Clayton McCullough credited Meyer and the offense for finishing the road trip on a high note. The Marlins went 3-0 against Washington after earlier stops in Toronto and New York. The win improved Miami to 28-34 while dropping the Nationals to 31-31.
