Meta develops AI version of Mark Zuckerberg for employees

Meta is creating an artificial intelligence version of its chief executive, Mark Zuckerberg, to interact with employees. The project involves photorealistic 3D characters trained on Zuckerberg's mannerisms, tone, and statements. Zuckerberg is personally training and testing the animated AI as part of the company's AI push.

Meta has begun prioritizing an AI character modeled after founder Mark Zuckerberg, according to four people familiar with the matter. The effort aims to produce photorealistic, AI-powered 3D figures capable of real-time conversations and feedback with staff. One person said Zuckerberg himself is involved in training the character using his mannerisms, voice, publicly available statements, and thoughts on company strategy to help employees feel more connected to him. This is separate from a previously reported 'CEO agent' designed to assist Zuckerberg by retrieving information quickly, as first noted by The Wall Street Journal. People familiar with the matter described the project as being in an early stage, with challenges in scaling due to high computing demands for realism and low-latency interactions. Meta has invested heavily in AI, including recent acquisitions of voice companies PlayAI and WaveForms, and released the Muse Spark model on Wednesday, which boosted shares by 7 percent. Zuckerberg has ramped up hands-on work, spending five to 10 hours weekly coding on AI projects and attending technical reviews. The company is also encouraging internal AI use through tools like OpenClaw and exercises for product managers, though some employees worry about potential job impacts—Meta insists these are voluntary for training purposes.
