Pope León XIV to visit Spain from June 6 to 12 with official schedule and royal participation

The Holy See has released the schedule for Pope León XIV's visit to Spain, running from June 6 to 12 and marking the first papal trip to the country in 15 years. The royal family will take part in several key events, including the welcome in Madrid and farewell in Tenerife.

The official itinerary includes the Pope's arrival on June 6 in Madrid, where the King and Queen will receive him at the airport at 10:30 and host him at the Royal Palace an hour later alongside the Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofía. The following day the royal family will attend mass in Plaza de Cibeles, expected to draw around one million people.

On Monday, June 8, Queen Sofía will join a tribute at Almudena Cathedral, while the King and Queen will attend mass at Barcelona's Sagrada Familia basilica on June 10. The visit ends on June 12 with the farewell ceremony at Tenerife Norte airport, attended by Queen Sofía.

Beyond the royal program, León XIV will deliver a speech before Spain's Congress of Deputies, meet Pedro Sánchez and visit migrant centers in the Canary Islands. The schedule covers five dioceses and includes events such as a youth vigil in Madrid and a meeting on migration realities at Arguineguín port.
