Tokyo Disney parks surpass 900 million visitors

Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea reached a combined total of 900 million visitors on Tuesday, according to an announcement by operator Oriental Land Co. The milestone comes from the theme parks in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture.

Tokyo Disneyland opened in April 1983, and on January 6, 2026—42 years and 266 days later—it and its sister park Tokyo DisneySea together surpassed 900 million visitors. The 100 million mark was reached in May 1991, eight years and 45 days after opening, followed by 200 million in July 1997, six years and 58 days later.

Tokyo DisneySea opened in September 2001, boosting visitor numbers. The combined total hit 300 million in November 2002, after which the parks added 100 million visitors every three to four years, leading to the current milestone. Oriental Land Co. announced the achievement for the parks in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture.

This record highlights the enduring appeal of the Disney theme parks in the region.
