Uppsala municipality, Sweden's largest rural municipality, will consolidate units from Avdelning park och natur at Kåbovägen 17 during March 2026. These units belong to Stadsbyggnadsförvaltningen and are moving from Sågargatan 17. The change is intended to foster better collaboration, knowledge sharing, and efficient sharing of vehicles and equipment. The division has about 135 permanent staff maintaining green areas, parks, and natural sites accessible to residents and visitors. At the new site, around 110 employees will gather, including 65 permanent and 45 seasonal workers. They will share premises with Jobbcenter's 25 staff. Some units have already operated from there. Operations demand year-round planning, covering tasks such as playground inspections, tree planting, grass mowing, valuable tree freeing, trail maintenance, ski track preparation, and invasive species control. Expertise includes park workers, horticulturists, biologists, ecologists, forest managers, and landscape architects. Working hours for outdoor staff are 06:30–16:00, others 07:00–18:00. The municipality features 280 parks, 165 playgrounds, nine outdoor areas, and eight nature reserves like Fjällnora and Hågadalen-Nåsten. It manages 5,400 hectares of forest near urban areas and promotes biological diversity.
