Wisconsin man arrested after threatening police in standoff

A 32-year-old man from Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, faces multiple charges after an hours-long confrontation with police on June 22. Zachary Fink allegedly threatened to blow up his house and threw objects at officers during the incident.

The events unfolded near the intersection of East Hampton Road and North Berkeley Boulevard. Officers responded around 5 p.m. after reports of a man making gun gestures and threatening to shoot people. Fink barricaded himself inside his residence, leading to a perimeter and negotiations.

Text messages from Fink included threats such as "I'll blow up the house rn give me the cigs as I asked" and "I'll stab y'all don't play games." Around 9:45 p.m., he emerged with a knife, prompting officers to fire a less-lethal round that missed. He then threw knives and shattered a mirror before retreating inside.

Fink was arrested around 10 p.m. after exiting again in an aggressive manner. A judge ruled on June 28 that he is not competent to proceed. His next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 5 to review a mental health evaluation.

Fink faces charges including failure to comply with an officer, obstructing an officer, disorderly conduct, use of a dangerous weapon, and bail jumping.
