Wizards of the Coast to release new D&D reference cards in 2026

Wizards of the Coast plans to launch new reference card decks for Dungeons & Dragons, covering spells, magic items, and monsters updated for the 2024 D&D 5.5e rules. These decks will debut in August 2026 as part of the Season of Magic initiative. The cards aim to simplify gameplay by providing quick access to rules at the table.

Dungeons & Dragons players and Dungeon Masters often face challenges in recalling detailed rules during sessions. To address this, Wizards of the Coast has announced three new reference card decks tailored to the upcoming 2024 D&D 5.5e core rules.

The Spell Decks will feature descriptions of spells from the 2024 Player’s Handbook. The Magic Item Decks will include cards for magical weapons, armor, potions, equipment, and other items as presented in the 2024 Dungeon Master’s Guide. Meanwhile, the Monster Decks will offer key statistics and illustrations of creatures from the 2025 Monster Manual.

These decks are set for release in August 2026, aligning with the Season of Magic, a marketing program running from July to September 2026. This season will incorporate organized play events and tie into the Arcana Unleashed supplement and the Arcana Unleashed: Deadfall adventure.

Pricing details remain unconfirmed, but past Wizards of the Coast card decks have typically ranged from $20 to $30 USD, depending on format and size. Reference cards have long been a staple in the D&D community, evolving from fan-made accessories to official products in the fifth edition era.

Previous official releases include Cleric Spell Cards, Druid Spell Cards, Ranger Spell Cards, Arcane Spell Cards, Creature & NPC Cards, Epic Monster Cards, Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes Monster Cards, Monster Cards (CR 0-5), Magic Item Cards, and the Deck of Many Things.

While digital tools like D&D Beyond have gained popularity, physical cards continue to appeal for their convenience in speeding up gameplay. Wizards of the Coast intends to provide updated images and further details as they become available.
