Peter Lord and David Sproxton, the founders of Aardman Animations, have been knighted as part of King Charles’ birthday honors list.
The pair, who established the studio in 1972, received the honor for their work on stop-motion films including Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep and Chicken Run. The announcement, made on Friday, named them among 1,182 recipients of various honors.
"We both feel it is an extraordinary privilege and an honor — as well as a complete and utter surprise — to be recognised in this way," Lord and Sproxton said in a joint statement.
Other entertainment figures also featured on the list. Helen Mirren was made a Companion of Honour, while Dexter Fletcher received an OBE and film composer Patrick Doyle was awarded a CBE.
