Airlangga targets Rp 110 trillion year-end public spending

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto targets total public spending of Rp 110 trillion by the end of 2025 through national discount programs. These include the National Online Shopping Day, which reached Rp 35 trillion, and the 'Shop in Indonesia Only' campaign aiming for Rp 30 trillion until January 4, 2026. The goal is to boost consumption and contribute to national economic growth.

On Friday, December 26, 2025, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto announced the Rp 110 trillion spending target for the year-end in South Jakarta while inspecting preparations for Work From Anywhere (WFA) at Pondok Indah Mall. He highlighted the role of discount programs organized by the Indonesian Retailers and Shopping Center Tenants Association (Hippindo) in malls and online platforms to stimulate consumption.

"The 'Shop in Indonesia Only' event organized by Hippindo across all malls targets Rp 30 trillion in transactions until January 4, 2026. Previously, Harbolnas reached Rp 35 trillion. So by the end of the year, we target Rp 110 trillion in spending," Airlangga said.

Price cuts in stores can reach 50 percent, plus additional discounts up to 25 percent and 10 percent cashback, expected to increase shopping interest. Additionally, Airlangga spotlighted tourism's contribution, particularly Malaysian tourists combining visits with shopping via the Whoosh high-speed train.

He urged shopping centers to become productive spaces for gig economy workers and support WFA concepts. The inspection was attended by Trade Minister Budi Santoso, Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, UMKM Minister Maman Abdurrahman, APPBI General Chairman Alphonzus Widjaja, and Hippindo General Chairman Budihardjo Iduansjah.

These programs aim to positively contribute to national economic growth this year through boosted domestic consumption.
