Larian Studios and Wizards of the Coast are partnering with Random House Worlds on four Baldur's Gate 3-themed books set for release this year. The lineup includes a prequel novel centered on the vampire character Astarion. Additional items feature a cookbook, coloring book, and themed notebook.
The collaboration highlights the game's lore and characters, with the first book being Baldur's Gate 3: Astarion, written by award-winning author T. Kingfisher. Senior writer Stephen Rooney from Baldur's Gate 3 consulted on the novel, which depicts Astarion's time as a servant to the vampire lord Cazador Szarr before the game's events. Voice actor Neil Newbon will narrate the audiobook version of the story, as first reported by Polygon on April 24, 2026. The other three books include a blank notebook styled after the in-game item The Necromancy of Thay, a coloring book with 40 illustrations, and A Feast for a Tenday: The Official Baldur's Gate Cookbook by Andrew Wheeler. The cookbook offers 65 recipes drawn from and inspired by the game, allowing fans to recreate dishes from Faerûn. More books are planned beyond this year, though no details on additional character-focused novels, such as for Shadowheart or Karlach, have been announced. Separately, an HBO series continuing the game's story is in development, without Larian's involvement.
