The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved two elevated highway corridors worth Rs 25,446 crore along the Varuna and Ganga rivers in Varanasi.
The 43-km Varuna corridor will connect NH-31 and the Varanasi ring road. The 46-km Ganga corridor will link NH-19 and the ring road. Both projects will use the hybrid annuity mode.
Varanasi receives around 15 crore tourists annually, adding pressure on the city's mobility system.
