Opposition party presidents met on Monday at the Socialist Party headquarters to discuss a possible Constitutional Tribunal challenge against President José Antonio Kast's megareform.
The meeting addressed the risks and opportunities of challenging the initiative, which includes 25-year tax invariability. Attendees agreed that any action must occur after the project's processing in Congress ends.
The Socialist Party stressed the need for solid arguments, while the Frente Amplio proposed including environmental issues. The PPD suggested also questioning health cuts.
Opposition party presidents will meet again next Monday to decide whether to proceed with the filing before the TC. Lautaro Carmona, president of the Communist Party, noted that the decision will be made jointly.
