The indie folk band Daughter has released an unreleased song to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their second album, Not To Disappear. Titled Not Enough, the track was originally written during the album's sessions but did not make the final cut. The band recorded a new version in London last November.
Daughter, the indie folk trio consisting of Elena Tonra, Igor Haefeli, and Remi Aguilella, released their second studio album, Not To Disappear, via 4AD exactly a decade ago. To commemorate the milestone, the group has shared a previously unreleased song called Not Enough, which they had written and demoed during the original recording sessions but ultimately left off the record.
The new version of Not Enough was produced by Haefeli, who also helmed the production for Not To Disappear. Recorded together in a London studio in November 2025, the track revives a sense of the band's early collaborative spirit, as members now live in different places and much of their recent work has been done remotely.
The song features warm, textured sounds and Tonra's gentle vocals, with lyrics that include: “We have a void, it’s like a vortex in our chest / That’s what you said, do yourself a favour / Pull yourself out of it, out of each other / Because it’s not enough.”
In a statement, the band reflected: “Not Enough didn’t find its place on Not To Disappear but we always loved it – we even played it live a few times before it went back to being a demo buried on a hard-drive. To mark the album’s 10th anniversary, we wanted to revisit some of the unfinished threads from that era.” They added that the recent session “felt like old times.”
Upon its release, NME awarded Not To Disappear four stars, praising its power and confidence compared to the band's debut, If You Leave, and noting elements like surging guitars and crunching drums on the opener New Ways. In the intervening years, Daughter issued only one more album, 2023's Stereo Mind Game, which also received four stars from NME for its delicate soundscapes exploring human relationships. Tonra released her solo debut as Ex:Re in 2018, followed by a reimagined version with a 12-string ensemble in 2021.
