Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan and Circle Jerks frontman Keith Morris have shared their admiration for the punk band D.O.A. in a new clip from the documentary Something Better Change. The film, directed by Scott Crawford, is now available on streaming and explores the life of D.O.A. frontman Joey Keithley.
McKagan describes D.O.A. as bigger than life and compares their influence to Led Zeppelin. He credits the Canadian group with shaping his own career, recalling how their performance left a lasting impression when he first saw them at age 13.
Morris recalls a memorable D.O.A. show opening for X at the Starwood in Los Angeles. He notes the band’s intense energy made it difficult for the headliner to follow.
The documentary also covers Keithley’s political career as a city councillor in Burnaby, British Columbia, where he represents the Green Party. Other musicians including Ian MacKaye, Henry Rollins, and Dave Grohl appear to discuss his impact.
The release coincides with a new D.O.A. compilation titled Take on the Tyrants.
