Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar chaired the 17th meeting of the Egyptian Drug Authority board on Monday to discuss measures strengthening local production of biologic medicines.
The meeting was attended by senior ministers and officials to review developments in Egypt’s pharmaceutical market and plans to increase domestic production. The board focused on establishing a specialised unit for laboratory waste handling and preparing a unified inspection manual for raw material facilities.
Board members approved the Authority’s final financial statements for the 2025/2026 fiscal year. Abdel Ghaffar stated that expanding domestic production forms a key pillar of Egypt’s health security strategy.
Investment Minister Mohamed Farid stressed that pharmaceutical localisation remains a priority under the national investment strategy. Industry Minister Khaled Hashem noted that the sector is included in Egypt’s Industrial Strategy 2030.
