The Federation of Kenya Employers has directed all employers to immediately implement the new statutory minimum wage increase.
On Tuesday, June 30, FKE called on employers to review their payrolls after the Labour Ministry published the Regulation of Wages (General) (Amendment) Order, 2026.
President William Ruto announced a 12 per cent general wage increase and a 15 per cent rise for agriculture sector employees during Labour Day celebrations on May 1, 2026.
The new rates apply from May 1, 2026, and set different monthly minimums for workers in cities including Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Nakuru and Eldoret, such as KSh18,047.40 for cleaners and watchmen.
FKE stressed that employers must comply with the revised statutory minimums now made legally enforceable.
