Fitness icon Gilad Janklowicz, known for his long-running ESPN show Bodies in Motion, has died at age 71. Jewish Life Television confirmed the news of his sudden passing.
Janklowicz was born in Israel and served as a fitness instructor in the Israeli military. He aspired to compete in the Olympics in the decathlon but an injury ended those plans. He later moved to California and began working as a fitness instructor in Los Angeles. In 1983 he launched the syndicated television program Gilad's Bodies in Motion. The show featured exercise routines filmed on Hawaiian beaches and aired on ESPN for more than a decade. Guests included Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jack LaLanne. The program later moved to Fox Sports and other networks and continues to air on JLTV. Janklowicz also released workout videos and was inducted into the National Fitness Hall of Fame, receiving its Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022.
