The Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Visakhapatnam celebrated its 12th Foundation Day by launching a support group and announcing infrastructure upgrades for cancer care.
Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre marked its 12th Foundation Day with the launch of PRERANA, a monthly support group for patients, survivors and caregivers. Director Umesh Mahantshetty highlighted the need for rehabilitation and survivorship support alongside clinical treatment. Chief guest Ayaskanta Jena announced a 3 MW solar power plant and a robotic surgery facility funded through an NTPC CSR initiative. The hospital also hosted its 4th Annual Cancer Congress, drawing about 130 delegates to discuss advances in thoracic and gastrointestinal malignancies. Sessions covered magnetic resonance-guided radiotherapy and immunotherapy. These malignancies account for 25 to 30 per cent of adult cancer cases.
