KVN Productions has made private the full version of the song ‘Sarse Ninna Seraga Sarse’ from its upcoming Kannada film KD: The Devil on YouTube following severe backlash on social media over the lyrics. Only promotional videos remain available on the Anand Audio channel. The special number, featuring Nora Fatehi and Sanjay Dutt and written by director Prem, has been criticized as “vulgar” and “suggestive” by fans. The Hindi version, titled ‘Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke’ with lyrics by Raqeeb Alam, music by Arjun Janya, and sung by Mangli, faced even stronger criticism for double entendres comparing a woman to a bottle of alcohol and demeaning women. Released on Sunday, the song garnered nearly 5 million YouTube views by Tuesday. Singer Armaan Malik posted on X: “This showed up on my timeline and I had to replay it just to make sure I heard it right. Sad to see commercial songwriting hit a new low.” Netizens expressed surprise that the Censor Board passed it and demanded pre-release certification for such tracks. Kannada fans reminisced about songs by lyricists like Ch.i Uday Shankar and RN Jayagopal, lamenting falling standards. Directed by Prem and starring Dhruva Sarja, Sanjay Dutt, Shilpa Shetty, and Reeshma Nanaiah, KD: The Devil is a pan-India period gangster drama set in the 1970s revolving around a criminal named Kaali. It will be dubbed in Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi, with a theatrical release on April 30.
