A Texas motorist struck a scooter rider twice before fleeing, according to police. Noe Ibarra Cedeno, 36, faces multiple charges including intoxication manslaughter in the death of Tony Vasquez.
Irving police said Cedeno drove a Honda Civic into Tony Vasquez on a motorized scooter in the 2800 block of Cantrell Street around 2:53 a.m. The vehicle then made a U-turn and struck Vasquez a second time before leaving the scene.
Cedeno was later stopped and registered a blood-alcohol level of 0.103. He told investigators he had consumed four to six beers while watching a soccer match and realized he had hit something after returning home.
Vasquez, a Dallas musician, was pronounced dead at the scene. His father, Julio Vasquez, said he misses his son and described the incident as terrible.
Cedeno was booked into Dallas County Jail on charges of intoxication manslaughter, intoxication assault, collision involving serious bodily injury or death, and hit-and-run. He is held on a combined $350,000 bond.
