Portland-based indie-pop duo New Constellations have revealed details of their debut album, It Comes in Waves, set for release on May 15 via Nettwerk. The announcement coincides with the launch of their new single, I Disappear. The album draws from personal experiences of relationships and life's ups and downs.
New Constellations, a Portland-based indie-pop duo consisting of Harlee Case and Josh Smith, have announced their first full-length album, It Comes in Waves. Scheduled for release on May 15 through the Nettwerk label, the project captures the ebb and flow of personal emotions.
The duo released a lead single, "I Disappear," alongside the announcement. Harlee Case described the album's themes, stating, "The majority of the music is about relationships that I’ve been in, some of it really happy and some of it really heart-wrenching." She added, "In general, life comes in waves. Grief comes in waves. Happiness comes in waves. If you live long enough, you know you’re going to experience all these different types of things."
Josh Smith elaborated on the album's title, noting, "‘It Comes In Waves’ is a phrase I’ve used in my life for a lot of different situations. There’s an ebb and a flow, and life is not what’s ahead of you. Life is what is happening to you at that moment."
The tracklist includes: Intro (Nothing Stays the Same), Secret Safe, I Disappear, Say That You Will, Hot Blooded, I’m Waiting Now, Waterslides, Caught On Your Line, Dandelion Sun, Chasing the Rain, Believe Again, Edge of the World, and Do What You Want.
To support the release, New Constellations are slated to perform at this year’s BottleRock Festival in Napa Valley, California, on May 22 and 23. Fans can preorder the album and follow the band on Instagram for updates.
