Nurse sentenced for 46 child rapes

A nurse in Stockholm has been sentenced to eight years in prison for over 100 sex crimes against ten girls aged 10–13. He contacted the victims via Snapchat, posing as a teenager to trick them into sexual acts. The investigation started with suspicions of seven gross rapes but expanded into a major conviction.

On the morning of Walpurgis Night 2025, police arrested a man working as a nurse at a hospital in Stockholm. He was initially suspected of seven gross rapes against one girl, but the investigation quickly expanded. The district court convicted him of 46 counts of child rape, 51 counts of exploiting children for sexual posing, 14 counts of sexual abuse of children, 11 counts of sexual harassment of children, as well as gross child pornography offenses and child pornography offenses—totaling over 100 crimes against ten girls aged 10–13.

The man contacted the girls via Snapchat and lied about his identity. He claimed to be just a few years older than them and sent photos of an unknown teenage boy to reinforce the impression. He urged them to film themselves performing sexual acts, and in four cases, this was classified as rape. One girl was subjected to 34 such assaults. The images clearly showed they were children, and several stated their real age to him.

The nurse denies the crimes, claiming he believed the girls were over 15. He calls his posing as a teenager a joke and the photos a mistake. The district court dismisses this as after-the-fact constructions and states: “That an adult man on so many occasions and with such intensity and to such an extent as [the nurse] has sex-chatted with children by mistake is so unlikely that it can be ruled out.” The sentence is eight years in prison.

The case highlights the risks of online contacts for children and the need for stronger protections on digital platforms.
