It proved the decisive tally in front of 34,049 fans at Wrigley Field, as the Pirates improved to 9-5 and held first place in the National League Central ahead of the Cardinals and Brewers. Manager Don Kelly called it a 'gutsy blue-collar win,' noting the tough environment at Wrigley. 'We'll take a win any way we can get it.'
