Cincinnati Reds starter Rhett Lowder left Thursday's game against the Chicago Cubs early due to right shoulder discomfort. The Cubs secured an 8-3 win at Wrigley Field to complete a four-game sweep.
Lowder, 24, allowed three runs over three-plus innings before departing in the fourth. He issued back-to-back walks to start the inning and will undergo an MRI on Friday morning in Cincinnati. Manager Terry Francona said the team wanted to be cautious after Lowder reported clicking in his shoulder and trouble finding his slot on the mound.
